Songs for S.O.N.G.S. brings inspiration, action to Belly Up

More than 600 people joined us for an evening of music and speeches October 8, 2018 as we laid the groundwork for a grassroots campaign to demand that Southern California Edison move 3.6 million pounds of nuclear waste off of the beach at San Onofre. Click here to watch the event recording.

The event at the Belly Up, “Songs for S.O.N.G.S.,” brought activists and artists, scientists and business leaders, elected officials, Native Americans and surfers — and anyone else who cares about our environment and safety – together under a shared goal: to move the highly-radioactive spent fuel from San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station away from the water’s edge.

Retired Admiral: Government not providing for our safety

In his keynote speech, Rear Admiral Len Hering (ret) blasted regulators for allowing the nuclear waste at San Onofre to be stored on the beach.

“The Constitution of the United States directs that this government provide for our safety,” Hering said, “and they are not!”
