Songs for SONGS V2, was a FREE event open hosted by the Belly Up with a program of music, satire, and commentary on the Southern California Edison’s storage of 3.6 million pounds of highly-radioactive waste about 100 feet from the ocean at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, or SONGS. This event was held on February 24th, 2020. A family-friendly livestream was held at Oceanside High School and was open to the general public. The recording of the event is available.

Join us at Patagonia store locations up-and-down California for an informative look at how we can protect the planet, as people who love water. The Samuel Lawrence Foundation is the selected nonprofit partner joining the tour to highlight the importance of taking action for the safest nuclear waste storage. The events include SLF speakers, Lea Brassy, Surf Ambassador, and three film screenings about the ocean, plastic, and fish (trailer links below).

 

 

Surf Activism Tour Events are free, and run from 7-9 pm, with alcohol and raffle tickets available for purchase.

More than 600 people joined us for an evening of music and speeches October 8, 2018 as we laid the groundwork for a grassroots campaign to demand that Southern California Edison move 3.6 million pounds of nuclear waste off of the beach at San Onofre.

“Songs for S.O.N.G.S.” showed that a combination of science, logic and art can inspire solutions to San Onofre’s nuclear waste problem.

The Samuel Lawrence Foundation was proud to stand alongside nearly 30 teens who demanded action for a livable climate during a March 15 rally at the Oceanside Pier. Participants agreed that storing nuclear waste just a few miles up the beach is unacceptable. The protest was part of a worldwide strike in which students protested their government’s inaction on climate change.
